Flood Control District to Start Work on Monday, Oct. 19

On Monday, Oct. 19, the Harris County Flood Control District will start removing debris and fallen trees from Fall Creek (HCFCD Unit P133-00-00), a Greens Bayou tributary that runs through the Fall Creek subdivision. The Flood Control District’s work will take place from Smith Road west of the Fall Creek subdivision to Greens Bayou, which is located to the south of the neighborhood.

Flood Control District contractor crews will use hand-held chainsaws to cut up trees that have fallen into the creek. They will carry the smaller pieces out of the creek and stockpile them along the banks where they will decompose over time and become part of the natural environment. Please note that these piles should be avoided by residents as they could be unstable. Crews will also haul out other types of debris that may be in danger of blocking the flow of stormwater in the creek. These will be disposed of offsite. Weather permitting, it is anticipated that the work will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Please note that the crews have obtained access agreements to get into and out of the work area, and residents may see them accessing the creek from bordering streets.
