Fall Creek is within the Humble Independent School District and is served by Fall Creek Elementary School, Atascocita Middle School and the new Atascocita High School. The first school located within Fall Creek boundaries, Fall Creek Elementary, will open in fall 2008.

The Humble ISD enjoys an excellent reputation among Texas public school systems. A number of factors contribute to the district’s prominence, including an overall student-teacher ratio of 15.5 to 1. Teachers in the Humble ISD have an average of 10.6 years of experience and nearly 22 percent of them hold advanced degrees. Statistics on students are equally impressive, with more than 25 percent of students taking advanced courses and more than 78 percent taking SAT and ACT college placement tests and easily outscoring their peers on regional, state and national levels.

Student enrollment currently totals more than 32,000 and is spread among 35 schools guided by more than 2,000 teachers. The district also has a self-paced high school for 17-to 21-year-olds who are seeking a diploma or GED. A Career and Technology Education Center (CATE) offers a variety of programs to prepare students for high-tech careers, including computer maintenance, information technology, network administration, engineering and health sciences. Kingwood College also holds classes at the center. A computer network links all campuses within the district.

Gifted/talented education is provided for all grades and advanced placement and honors classes are available. Extensive special education services are available for children with disabilities.

Fall Creek Elementary, slated to open for the 2008-2009 school year, will follow the elementary prototype developed by Humble Independent School District and successfully used at a host of elementary schools within the district. An emphasis on individual participation at Atascocita Middle School stimulates student involvement in both academics and extracurricular activities. For example, an annual interdisciplinary program engages students in an extensive study of historical periods, with each grade orchestrating a multi-cultural festival to represent its focus of study.

In the same vein, the UIL-sponsored athletic program encourages students of various skill levels, with three teams of boys’ football for seventh and eighth grades, and two teams per grade of boys’ track and basketball. Girls enjoy two levels of volleyball, basketball and track for each grade.

The fine arts play a leading role in the school’s curriculum, with art classes, theater, speech and debate, several levels of choir, concert band, orchestra and more.

In addition to a strong special education program and a gifted and talented program that is superior for this grade level, Atascocita Middle School also excels with its parent volunteer program. Parents are encouraged to develop an active partnership with the school and log hundreds of volunteer hours each year.

Atascocita Middle School provides five computer labs, computers in the library and at least two computers in each classroom, along with supervised Internet access. Teachers are available by e-mail.

Opened in fall 2006, the state-of-the-art Atascocita High School serves grades nine through 12, with the first seniors graduating in 2008. The 425,000-square-foot facility, able to accommodate 2,400 students, is designed around six small learning communities. Students thus spend the majority of their time in a more focused environment, attending core academic classes of English, math, science and social studies. The smaller groups of students allow house principals, counselors and teachers to personalize learning for students.

In addition to a strong core curriculum, Atascocita High School offers its students a wealth of electives to provide opportunities for exploring interests and pinpointing future careers. The innovative course selection includes animal science, aquaculture, landscape design, architectural graphics, desktop publishing, criminal investigation and more. Students can select various marketing and business education courses, family and consumer sciences classes and health sciences. Atascocita High School also continues the district’s noted tradition in sports, allowing students to compete in the expected football, basketball, baseball and volleyball, as well as swimming, golf, tennis and gymnastics, among others. The fine arts program is just as strong, with several ambitious productions in the works by the theater arts department, as well as classes in choir, orchestra, band, dance and more. Atascocita already has won district in 2008 UIL one-act play competition.

To prepare for the school's opening, district staff, teachers, parents and students defined seven “habits” to guide students in their academic and personal development. An emphasis on authenticity helps students achieve an in-depth understanding of subjects and hone complex problem-solving skills. The habit of imagination targets creative thinking, allowing students to explore and develop new thought patterns. A focus on fluent communication includes expression through written and verbal skills, as well as building solid listening skills. While still appreciating individual differences, the habit of collaboration teaches students to work well in groups. Other emphases include service to the common good, ethical behavior and appreciation.
